39" Hand Carved Wood Fish
SHARK! 39", hand carved & painted wooden fish, made in USA,...

• We are professional artists with over 50 years of diversified art and design experience. We like to capture the spirit of the fish, without that "taxaderm look". We hand pick each piece of wood, and especially look for interesting wood grain, knots and natural imperfections. We believe that these characteristics add interest to the overall look and feel of the finished piece. We leave as much of the wood grain surface as possible, to achieve a really cool, rustic, yet contemporary style. Our paint job is very nice, and involves many different techniques, including airbrushing. No two are exactly alike. We are proud to 'honor the fish' with our fish carvings, and hope that you'll enjoy them as much as we enjoy creating them.
The details...
• We hand carve each fish from seasoned yellow pine, no chemicals, no preservatives. Our creative process is called power carving, which utilizes chainsaws, bandsaw, flexshaft carving bits, grinders, torches...and, lots of muscle! The back side is flat, and drilled for a flush type hanger.
• Each fish is hand painted with exterior laytex paint, and seal coated with a semi-gloss, UV protective finish. Each carving is signed and dated. Our fish are suitable for outdoor or indoor use. As with all wood products, if it's going to be hung outside in a hot, mostly sunny and/or very wet location, you'll need to care for your wood by, periodically, keeping it generously covered with a good protection of clear UV , such as Spar polyurethane. If you'd like your fish to look wet, then clear coat it with the high gloss finish.
